Julian Harrop, the Photographic Collections Coordinator from Beamish Museum, tells the story of Charles Nicol a locally based photographer who was born in Jesmond, the son of a Master Mariner, who did his apprenticeship in Newcastle and area.Photographs will include central Newcastle and the coast, 1890s, also some of his wonderful local holiday recording.He was a member of Jesmond Presbyterian Church, Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, President of the Durham and Northumberland Photographs Association and a popular portrait photographer for over 50 years.
