An opportunity to listen to a talk about Robert Thorner (Philanthropist 1621–1690) Charles Smith (Poacher 1793-1822) and John Dewar (RAF Officer 1907-1940) . All three men lived in different centuries and the talk will reflect on life as it was was when they were alive both socially and politically . They each have left a legacy in some way or another, two died very young in tragic circumstances and one went on to change the lives of many in Southampton by his wealth. Their gravestones in this village churchyard are very different, but tell their own story of these men who should never be forgotten as they made their mark on "Everyday Histories". So come and listen to this fascinating talk in the beautiful ancient church of St. John the Baptist, North Baddesley and be taken back in time! There will also be an opportunity to visit their graves.

This is an ancient church and therefore there are no toilets on site or places for refreshments, but a moderately sized car park. It is a hidden treasure and visitors will enjoy the breathtaking view from the churchyard of the Hampshire Countryside. It is an ancient religious site and we do ask visitors to be respectful of their surroundings.
Care must be taken when leaving the carpark as the road is busy and so be aware of oncoming traffic
