A Stitch in Time.... (Threads of the Past, Flowers of the Future)
Berrington Hall, Berrington, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 0DW
A site-specific installation blending upcycling, traditional garment construction, contemporary textiles and historical references - inspired by the collections, architecture and gardens of Berrington Hall.
This Avant-Garde design - displayed on a mannequin - creatively interprets the history, picturesque surroundings and future aspirations of the venue.
Bold silhouettes inspired by period costume (specifically the Court Mantua dress) are combined with floral additions and embellishments, experimental textiles techniques and eclectic materials. Every element responds to and respects the environment in which it is displayed.
This creative outcome represents a unique collaboration between a visionary designer and a heritage setting, offering an unexpected and inspirational experience to intrigue visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
By reimagining the past through a contemporary lens, it will also appeal to new audiences and sparks social interaction in response to its inventive and thought-provoking interpretation.
