Although production of Berwick Cockles ceased in 2001,this business is still synonymous with the Cowe family, but its origins are much older.
This talk will explore the history of these famous Berwick Sweets and the closely guarded secret which surrounded their manufacture. We’ll also delve into the history of William Cowe & Sons and their predecessors the Weatherhead family who also occupied the Bridge Street premises.
