This walking tour led by Dr Cindy Wood will explore medieval Winchester - looking at the characters who lived in various properties and churches in the city which are now lost.

Join Dr Cindy Wood on a fascinating tour to explore the hidden secrets of Medieval Winchester. If walls could talk how much could they tell us about the people who lived in these properties and how they or their purpose has changed over time? Dr Wood points out a few hidden gems that you may not have noticed before and helps you to explore the hidden nature of a medieval urban environment.

This event is back by popular demand - Dr Wood has held similar walking tours for previous festivals which have all sold out almost immediately! Be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!

Accessibility details

This is a walking tour, you should be prepared to be on foot for around one and a half hours. Although the tour takes place on pavements and pedestrianised areas around the city centre we cannot guarantee that all parts of the tour will be suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Once you set off from the Westgate and walk down the hill into the city centre the rest of the route is pretty flat. The tour will conclude at the St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate church, just past the cathedral.
