Abbey Grove Walk
Abbey Grove, Eastward Ho, View Point Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk, IP11 9GA
Join the us for a gentle guided walk around Abbey Grove, one of Felixstowe’s quiet green spaces with links to both the town’s natural environment and its much older medieval story.
This 90-minute walk will explore the woodland paths, meadow areas and local landscape around Abbey Grove, looking at how this community woodland was created, what grows there today, and how the area connects with the history of Walton and medieval Felixstowe. Along the way we will talk about the planting of the woodland, its wildlife and the work of local volunteers.
Abbey Grove was planted in 1998 as part of the Woodland Trust’s “Woods on Your Doorstep” project, with the involvement of the local community and the Felixstowe Society. Today it contains a mix of native trees, open glades, hazel coppice and meadow habitat, creating a peaceful place for walking, wildlife and reflection.
The walk will be led at an easy pace and will last approximately 90 minutes. Please wear suitable footwear as paths may be uneven or muddy depending on the weather.
