Adverts From The Past
1 Great Exhibition Way, Kirkstall, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS5 3BF
Adverts from the Past.
Kirkstall Forge are delighted to be hosting, Jane Ellis, who will be exploring the rapidly changing world of advertising for her informative and entertaining talk, Adverts From the Past.
Persuading the customer to buy a particular product has always been essential in an extremely competitive market, and the world of advertising has changed out of all recognition in the last 200 years. This talk looks back at adverts from local businesses, and how they promoted their wares and services. Some of these seem archaic, outlandish or even plain comical to our modern eyes.
On the day, there will also be the opportunity to browse artefacts from Kirkstall Forge, including original marketing materials from the Forge's height in the 1800s.
The talk is free to attend and will be hosted on the ground floor in Butler's café.
The venue has level access with accessible parking available.
