Notable features within Albion Church, Ashton-under-Lyne:
The Stained-Glass windows – designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones and installed by Wm Morris, two leading artists of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the Victorian era.
The Transept Window on the Bedford Street side depicts New Testament characters.
The Transept Window on the Queen Street side depict Old Testament characters.
The Chancel Window is intended to portray the virtues and graces of the Christian character and is composed of 14 figures
The war memorial designed by Gordon M. Forsyth was unveiled 2 October 1921. It was built in Pilkington ceramic tiles with beautiful oak panelling – listing 57 soldiers who died in WWI. Carved in the oak panelling and gilded are the poignant words: “That the living may remember, and the dead be unforgot”. After WWII two white ceramic tiles with wood carvings were added.
The TC Lewis Organ built in 1894/5 – is listed Grade II it was gifted to Albion Church by local mill owner and Mayor of Ashton Mr Abel Buckley and cost £2200. Over the years The Organ has been regularly maintained to a high standard. The Organ has been played by many famous organists both British and from abroad.
