Croxton village is 2.5 miles north of Thetford and surrounded by farm land and nearby forest. Part of the Mackenzie estate (purchased in the 1860s), it also included Santon Downham, large areas of what is now Forestry England and much of Thetford – land West of the old A11 (hence Mackenzie Road).

Grade I listed All Saints' in Croxton is the oldest church in the benefice. The main structure was built around 1280 and its Nave has a hammer beam roof. The round tower appears to be early Norman, although experts believe it may date from the ninth century. Christ's College, Cambridge is the Lay Rector and responsible for the upkeep of the Chancel.
