Robert Thompson, the “Mouseman”, left his mark on Ampleforth Abbey and Ampleforth College, which together house probably the biggest known collection of “Mouseman” furniture. The influence of the distinguished 20th-century architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott can also be seen here, with Ampleforth Abbey Church representing one of his major works.
