Hunsbury Hill Country Park houses a 2,500 year-old Iron-age Hillfort. It also contains Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust, which will be open on Sunday 20th September.

As well as the 2,500-year-old Iron-age Hillfort to discover, we will have 2 walks around the park and plenty of entertainment for the children.

There is also Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust in the park. Come and see the trains and their museum! (Train-rides will be available on Sunday 20th September, which will NOT be free.)

For those who wish to see the Hillfort, we will have volunteers to show you round and pass on general information concerning this Ancient Monument. There are no relics or constructions to view, but the ramparts and ditch are still here to see.

Come and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Hillfort.

Refreshments are also available from the café in the park that sells hot and cold food and drinks.

Accessibility details

This is a Country Park and as such has uneven paths and inclines. Access to the ancient Hillfort is amongst trees, which means tree roots and low branches can be a hazard. This is a Country Park and the paths are not smooth and flat. The main pathway is normally good but some smaller paths may have tree roots exposed, with undergrowth close to the walkways. In good weather, all the paths are clear and usable - rain will cause problems, so make sure you have the appropriate clothing.

Additional information
