This Southport version of Everyday Histories is grounded in the people behind the resort: pleasure-boat crews on Marine Lake, bath-chair men on the Promenade, pier workers, the men of the Eliza Fernley, landlord John Halfrey, entrepreneur John Humphrey Plummer, cotton manufacturer William Atkinson, and the Cheshire Lines clerks and porters who worked the line at the end of the route.
