Behind the scenes tour

Shropshire Archives holds over 6 miles of documents in our climate controlled store rooms. Documents range from 12th century charters to modern newspapers. Come along and find out more. There will also be display of documents celebrating everyday histories and Shropshire at work.

Directions:

We’re on Castle Gates, just up the hill from the railway station. Walking up Castle Gates from the station, find us on the right hand side of the road through an archway marked ‘Blowers Repository’. This comes after the last shop front and before the stone wall leading round to the library. We only have 2 parking spaces for visitors who find walking difficult. These can be booked in advance. If you are travelling by car we recommend using the park and ride services.

Stores are on different levels but we do have a lift. Please advise us in advance if you have any access requirements. We have 2 parking spaces available - please email [email protected] to reserve in advance if needed.
