An exhibition of original archive documents and three short talks on working lives from the early modern to Victorian times.

The Archives will be open from 10am to 12.30pm with talks at the following times:

10.15am Using records from our Quarter Sessions collection, Dr Hannah Robb will explore how women in the early modern economy make a living.
11.00am Local historian Nigel Hinton will explore Shrewsbury`s local heroes working in the wool trade in 1588, who were also members of trained bands preparing for invasion
12.00pm Discover working lives at Shrewsbury Flax Mill with local historian and volunteer, Penny Ward

There will be an exhibition of original documents celebrating the lives of ordinary workers in Shropshire.

Directions:
We’re on Castle Gates, just up the hill from the railway station. Walking up Castle Gates from the station, find us on the right hand side of the road through an archway marked ‘Blowers Repository’. This comes after the last shop front and before the stone wall leading round to the library. We only have 2 parking spaces for visitors who find walking difficult. These can be booked in advance. If you are travelling by car we recommend using the park and ride services.

Additional information

There will be an exhibition of original archive documents in our Search Room. You'll need to put all coats and bags in a locker before visiting this. There's a £1 deposit for the lockers.
