Berwick Shines in Conversation: Artist encounters with Berwick and the KOSB
The Peace Church, 46 F Church Street, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 1DX
Over the past 12 months the Berwick Shines cultural engagement programme, part of the Living Barracks, has supported artists in their creative engagement with the Berwick Barracks site, museum collections and archives. Drawing on the research and expertise of Susan Higgins, who works on the interpretation of The King’s Own Scottish Borderer’s (KOSB) museum collection, artists Beth J Ross and Cath Campbell have both discovered unexpected inspiration in the objects, letters and images that trace the centuries long history of the KOSB. In this discussion, Susan, Beth and Cath will discuss where to start in interpreting a collection like this, the unexpected stories therein, and how these processes of interpretation have evolved as the artists invited through the Berwick Shines programme have begun their research.
