Beverley Guildhall & Community Museum
Beverley Guildhall, Register Square, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU17 9XX
The Guildhall represents over 500 years of Beverley's civic pride. Based on a medieval great hall, the Guildhall was substantially re-modelled in the 18th and 19th centuries and is now one of Beverley's most iconic Georgian buildings. Inside you will see the stunning courtroom with an ornate plaster ceiling by Giuseppe Cortese, a magistrate's room with original 17th century furniture and an elegant parlour with a silver collection dating back over several centuries.
For this year's theme of "Everyday Histories" we will be featuring a living history event on Fridays 11th and 18th September, in which you can find out more about the work of the medieval carpenters who may have crafted the timber-framed building. The featured exhibition this year will be "Subterranean Beverley" which explores the world beneath our feet.
To find out more about the Guildhall, visit our website, or download the Bloomberg Connects app and search "Beverley Guildhall".
