A step-free “roll and stroll” tracing everyday histories along part of the old parish boundary of Leeds. Starting at Penny Pocket Park and ending at Granary Wharf, exploring how ordinary lives are remembered — and sometimes forgotten.

Join us for a reflective, step-free “roll and stroll” exploring evidence of everyday lives and identities 'on the edge' of Leeds. As the city of Leeds marks 400 years since receiving its first Royal Charter, this guided walk follows a step‑free riverside route from Penny Pocket Park (opposite Leeds Minster) to Granary Wharf (at the back of Leeds City Station).

Along the way we pause at headstones, plaques and fragments of the old parish boundary to consider stories of identity and belonging - and unbelonging - along part of the old parish boundary of Leeds. Through collaborative questioning and discussion, we will explore continuity and change in the ways in which ordinary lives are remembered — and sometimes forgotten — over 200 years amidst the built environment of modern Leeds.

The route passes under Crown Point Bridge and follows a fully wheelchair‑accessible path beside the River Aire. Accessible toilets are available at venues at the start and along the route, with Changing Places Toilets also available at Dock Street and Leeds City Station.

This event is run in collaboration with Simon on the Streets, an independent Leeds‑based charity offering long‑term practical and emotional support to people facing homelessness.

Everyone — and their dog — is warmly welcome.
