Going along with this year’s theme of architecture, Braintree Museum will be showcasing it’s large photographic collection with a slideshow of Braintree through time. On display for Heritage Open Days only, the Museum will also have a range of fascinating objects from some iconic Braintree landmarks such as the Town Hall as well as weird and wonderful fixtures and fittings from buildings around the district.
The Warner Textile Archive we will be highlighting the diverse buildings that are decorated in Warner & Sons textiles and made at New Mills in Braintree, one of the largest mills of its kind in the UK. Buildings range from palaces, through to country estates, cathedrals, hospitals, and everyday homes. This will be a free bookable tour of the Archive.
Both sites will have a range of fun activities, crafts to make and take home and outdoor trails to explore the architechture and buildings of the town. It really is a great day out for all the family to enjoy and explore more about Braintree’s rich heritage for free!

Make day of it! Visit Braintree Museum and explore the fascinating objects, photographs and stories of the town. Then head down to the Warner Textile Archive, only open to the public during Heritage Open Days and take a glipmse behind the scenes and see some wonderful textiles as well as exploring the mill buildings. Don't forget to complete your visit by popping in to our lovely cafe Something Scrummy for lunch and delicious cakes.
