Warner Textile Archive: From Braintree to Buckingham Palace
Silks Way, Braintree, Essex, CM7 3GB
Going along with this year’s theme of architecture, the Warner Textile Archive we will be highlighting the diverse buildings that are decorated in Warner & Sons textiles and made at New Mills in Braintree, one of the largest mills of its kind in the UK. Buildings range from palaces, through to country estates, cathedrals, hospitals, and everyday homes. This will include a bookable tour.
Braintree Museum will be showcasing it’s large photographic collection with a slideshow of Braintree through time. On display for Heritage Open Days only, the Museum will also have a range of fascinating objects from some iconic Braintree landmarks such as the Town Hall as well as weird and wonderful fixtures and fittings from buildings around the district.
Both sites will have a range of fun activities, crafts and outdoor trails to do. It really is a great day out for all the family to enjoy and explore more about Braintree’s rich heritage for free!
