Heritage themed Miniature Railway Open Day

Our miniature trains, built from the mid 20th century to the latest designs, will be running throughout the day on our volunteer-run community railway. Originally devised in the Victorian period, ‘model engineering’ 7¼" railways like ours showcase a variety of train shapes, sizes and ages, with enough power to pull passengers—and stories. Some of our locomotives date back to the mid-20th century, reflecting the craftsmanship and dedication of generations of engineers and enthusiasts.
The Bridge View Light Railway is a volunteer-run community project to build and operate a heritage themed miniature railway along the beautiful riverbank of the Sowe in Baginton Village.
As part of this year’s theme, visitors can discover more about the everyday roles that make a railway work—from drivers and guards to the behind-the-scenes maintenance carried out by today’s volunteers, continuing traditions that span decades.
Our volunteers will be running the railway for scenic rides through the garden and along the riverbank, while also sharing insights into what a typical day looks like on a working railway—both historically and today.
Other highlights include our 1970s styled station, complete with a gift shop perfect for young and old enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into a familiar part of railway life that many will remember.

The railway is an open-air attraction so we recommend sturdy outdoors footwear and clothing on days of inclement weather.
Due to the nature of the uneven ground around the track, sensible shoes and clothing would be advised, especially on wet days.
