Find out about the ambitious restoration of the Brook Theatre formerly Chatham Town Hall built in 1899. Daily posts will share the buildings history and architectural highlights and the explore the challenges of this multi-million pound project.

Meticulous restoration of the Victorian English Renaissance style former Town Hall has just begun. The complex Grade II Listed building is not suitable for tours this year, so instead we will be sharing special daily HODs posts using original documents, photographs, interviews and films. Discover the buildings fascinating history and take a behind the scenes look at discoveries on site and the challenges a restoration of this scale presents to the expert teams leading the work. It will also delve into the challenge of reimagining the much loved local landmark and making it accessible for new generations of audiences, whilst preserving its unique character. Using original documents, photographs, stories and interviews the weeks posts will bring to life the theatres re-opening in 2027. The project is being funded by Medway Council, the previous UK governments Levelling Up Fund and the Future High Streets Fund. Thomas Sinden Ltd have been appointed to undertake the restoration works with architects the Bailey Partnership.
