A hands-on, family-friendly workshop onboard The Golden Hinde where you can create London landmarks and dream homes from recycled materials. Explore architecture, sustainability, and history while helping build a giant map of Southwark’s skyline!

Build Your London - From Rubbish to Residence
Sunday 14 September & Saturday 20 September | 10am-12pm

Step aboard The Golden Hinde and get creative! This fun, interactive workshop invites families to explore the theme of architecture through art, history, and sustainability. Using recycled and found materials, you'll reimagine London’s iconic skyline - from The Shard to St Paul’s - and design your very own dream building, inspired by the city’s past and present.

Sessions are designed for children aged 6 and up (accompanied by an adult) and encourage curiosity, hands-on making, and big-picture thinking. Participants will explore historic images, sketch ideas, and build using paper, glue, tape, and more. Your creations will contribute to a growing community artwork: a giant digital map of Southwark showing what London might look like if we all helped shape it.

This workshop sparks conversation about the history of housing in Southwark, what makes a landmark, and how we can turn “rubbish” into something beautiful.

Please note:

- Children must remain within sight of their accompanying adult
- Sessions run on a staggered entry basis: 10am or 11am
- You’ll have access to the rest of the ship before or after your workshop session

Free to attend, but booking is essential.

This event is part of Heritage Open Days 2025, themed around architecture.
