Building Homes for our Community and Families
(Full details supplied upon booking), Moortown, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS17 1AA
Leeds Jewish Housing Association has been providing social housing for the Jewish community for 70 years. From the opening of our Queenshill Estate in 1962 to the current project to build family homes on the Queenshill site, LJHA has been integral to the social history of the Leeds Jewish community, creating a rich fabric of architectural design externally and internally. Come and find out about how we have created a footprint in North Leeds over the past 70 years, created networks within the Jewish community, and wider community. Through maps, photographs, magazines and much more, you will learn about how LJHA have shaped the built environment of Alwoodley and Moortown since our formation in 1953.
LJHA are also part of the Leeds Jewish Living History Project, a community history project which documents Jewish life in Leeds from the late 19th century to the present day. The collection includes paper documents donated by individuals and Jewish organisations, plus a comprehensive collection of oral history interviews as digital recordings. The event will also include a selection of materials from other projects under the banner of the Leeds Jewish Living History Project.
