Bullington Church Fete

St Michael and All Angels, Lower Bullington, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 3RE

  • 14 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

On Sunday 14 September, the Church of St Michael and All Angels will open its doors when it hosts the Bullington Fete between 1400 and 1630. There will be a selection of stalls, including local produce, cream teas, a tombola and a bouncy castle.

Celebrating the HODs theme of Architecture, visitors will be able to see several features of St Michael's dating to the Middle Ages, when it was assigned to Wherwell Abbey, including: the Nave and Chancel, the Font Bowl, two windows and a doorway. Nestled by the River Dever, there is a neighbouring Mill that was rented by Saint Elizabeth's College in Winchester during the fourteenth century. There is also a public footpath to a footbridge over the Dever at Chimple Row, which is mentioned in a Fine in the year 1241. The eldest of the three Church bells was cast in 1399 and is inscribed with the same phrase as a bell in Winchester College. St Michael's was modernised in the late 19th Century and has had three major refurbishments since 1990. The history of the Church and the village in now available in a new book titled: Where East Meets West: The Hidden Charms of Bullington in the Dever Valley, which is available at P&G Wells in Winchester.
