Clevedon Market Hall has just been purchased by Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust.
Celebrating the Past : Inspiring the Future
The plan is to transform the currently under-used Grade II listed Clevedon Market Hall designed by Hans Price into a vibrant Arts and Heritage Hub, showcasing the local area’s rich heritage across the arts, social, political and engineering history, seaside resort, maritime history. Drawing from a well-catalogued archive and a collection of artefacts, oral histories, and images, the Hub will offer exhibitions, learning activities, and digital resources for residents and visitors alike.
It is planned to conserve and fit out the building for community use, create engaging permanent and temporary displays, digitise key archive material, and deliver a wide-ranging programme of activities including school workshops, volunteer training, public events, public performances and opportunities for individuals to work alongside each other in fledgling businesses.
Building on Clevedon’s nationally significant Grade I listed pier and its role as a Victorian seaside town, the Hub will strengthen the town’s tourism offer, create local pride, and provide a space for intergenerational learning. It will also improve organisational sustainability through stronger partnerships and increased visitor income.
