This covers, 'Upper Fellgreve Wood' , 'Huddersfield Crematory area', ' Villa Farm area', Part of 'Lower Fellgreve Wood' and back to Upper Fellgreve Wood'. The walk starts at Woodside lane with the junction of Bradford Road, Fixby. It is recommended you park in the 'Asda Car Park' and leave by the exit away from the store then cross Bradford Road. You can shop before or after. The walk starts in ,Upper Fellgreve Wood, to look at the bell pits and site of the old Drift Mine. The surface is uneven with trip hazards. we then cross over Fixby Road to see the site of the old ,'Bradley Lane Colliery'. From this we walk round to 'Villa Farm to see where 'Bradford Road Colliery' was. From this we cross Bradley Road to visit the mine workings in 'Upper Fellgreve Wood' then return back to 'Upper Fellgreve Wood' To finish the walk.
A short history of the mines will be given as we get to each one. I will also demonstrate how I find the mines using a 'Dowsing Technique'.

This is unfortunately unsuitable for disabled people and wheelchairs. You will be walking through woodland with uneven ground and many trip hazards. It is recommended you wear suitable footwear and clothes appropriate for the weather. There are no facilities on route. You will be crossing four dangerous roads. I am not a trained first aider. (Asda has toilets and a café).
