Community Day at Thornborough Henges

Throughout the events at Thornbrough Henges, the Neolithic handling kit will be on display, so visitors can see what tools and everyday items were used when the henges were built, including antler picks shoulder blade shovels, animal skins, clothes, jewellery and fire-lighting kits. This event is run by English Heritage volunteers. The display may be restricted by the weather.

Discover the tools, clothing and everyday objects used by Neolithic people thousands of years ago. See and explore authentic reproductions of:

Antler picks used for digging
Shoulder blade shovels
Animal skins and prehistoric clothing
Jewellery and personal adornments
Fire-lighting kits and other essential survival tools

This unique display with help visitors imagine how people lived, and built the impressive Thornborough Henges.

Run by English Heritage volunteers, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about our prehistoric past and the remarkable people who shaped the landscape we see today.

Parking: A small amount of layby parking is available at the entrance gates to the Central and Southern Henge. What3words location: ///guards.remission.star (Grid Reference: SE 28635 79363). Please park respectfully and safely. Access: The Central and Southern henges are accessed through the nearby gates. Footpaths around the site are relatively flat, but uneven and grassy. Dogs: Dogs on short leads are welcome.

Please be aware: The henge fields are currently being used for sheep grazing and will hold in-lamb ewes in their gestation period for the coming weeks. We kindly ask all visitors and local dog walkers to keep dogs on leads at all times and please keep to footpaths and desire lines. Smoking, vaping, barbecues and naked flames are not permitted.
