Court Lodge Lamberhurst. Exhibition of Its local history and a guided garden tour

The Manor of Lamberhurst, where Court Lodge was the principle building, can be traced back to King John’s reign (1199-1216), and has a rich history, some of which will be illustrated in the exhibition. In 1733, the manor was bought by William Morland, and until very recently, remained in the same family, with successive generations extending the estate, house and gardens. In the 1800s, the family commissioned James Pulham to design and install “Picturesque Ferneries and Rock-Garden Scenery” for the house and grounds, which complemented the more formal garden, walled garden with its conservatories and gazebo and miniature lake with its boat house. The guided tour will take in these gardens, which are the subject of plans to restore them back to their former glory.

Accessibility details
The exhibition will be located in the entrance to the house, accessed by a few steps. There are some steps and rough terrain in the gardens, which would make access by wheelchair hard work.
