Crime Unlocked

Become part of an early 19th century case which was heard at Berwick Quarter Sessions Court and decide the fate of the accused. The script is based on material uncovered in the local archives and newspapers. Find out who was in the prison in the Town Hall and what life was like there. View the condemned cell and hear the stories behind who was imprisoned there.

It's the big building with the steeple in Marygate. Use the side entrance to access the building. There will be bunting outisde the door.

The prison area is upstairs. There is no lift in the building.

Combine the tour/re-enactment with a sneak preview of the photographic exhibition in the Guildhall all weekend before we move upstairs. The prison will be open on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September and there will also be other events taking place in the building - see separate entries for details. .
