Set inside a converted row of original fishermen’s cottages, Cromer Museum offers a fascinating insight into the area’s rich maritime heritage and geological history. Discover Cromer’s history as a Victorian seaside resort and the scandal of its mixed bathing. Explore its captivating collection and display of fossils all found in Norfolk, and the magnificent cast of a Mosasaur’s skull, a huge marine reptile that was common in the seas that covered the county over 80 million years ago. Learn about the famous West Runton mammoth, Britain’s oldest and most complete mammoth fossil. Step inside the cosy fisherman’s cottage and discover what life was like in the late 19th century. Admire the beautiful series of portrait photographs by Olive Edis, Norfolk’s pioneering female photographer, including a selection of autochromes, rare early 20th century colour photographs.

All public galleries and spaces are fully accessible. A lift connects the ground and first floor of the museum. For those visitors unable to use the upper floors it is possible to view details of collections on display there. Assistance dogs are very welcome.
