Cromer Pier & Pavilion Theatre - Backstage Tours
The Pier, Promenade, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9HE
Cromer Pier is a stunning 151-metre-long Victorian landmark. While a pier or jetty has existed in Cromer since as early as 1391, the structure we see today officially opened in June 1901, complete with a bandstand at its head. This was later expanded into a pavilion in 1905. Fast forward to 2024, Cromer Pier earned the prestigious title of Pier of the Year from the National Piers Society.
To mark the pier’s historic beginnings, the Cromer & Sheringham Brass Band will be performing live on the pier from 1pm to 3pm.
Visitors are also invited to step inside the Pavilion Theatre between 10am and 3pm to watch a specially created short documentary for Heritage Open Days, narrated by Norfolk’s very own Olly Day.
Looking ahead to 2025, Cromer Pier will debut exclusive backstage tours of the Pavilion Theatre. Guided by staff, small groups will explore the newly refurbished dressing rooms and learn about the theatre’s rich past—offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at The Cromer Pier Show 2025.
