Tales from the Waggon Steps, building on heritage from previous years, this yard contains information about the varda (Gypsy living waggon), Hawking baskets and paper flower making, information will be available to take away.

Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group on the Moorend in Beeley illustrative exhibition, information about Victorian life to present illustrating the everyday life of Romany Gypsy people in Britain. Including paper flower making, children and adults enjoy this activity with Romany Gypsy Muzelley McCready. This project builds on the Tales from the Hawking basket put on last year and other heritage open days.
The Gypsy waggon is under rennovation after being stored some years on a farm, understand how families would make an everyday living by mending pots , pans or mending knives and hawking, going from door to door selling flowers, lace and pegs.

The waggon is undergoing restoration and may not look like the photographs attached. However there will be information about the restoration.
