Discover Wood Street - and the Wood Street Collection
6-8 Bond Terrace, Rishworth Street, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 2HW
The Wood Street area is changing! The former police station is being converted into apartments, new houses are being built on Gills Yard and Rishworth Street and there are plans to develop the Old Court House into a 'village hall' with an events space and restaurant and bar along with other creative spaces.
But do you know about the history of the Wood Street area, known today as Wakefield's Civic Quarter?
Well, come along to one of these events to find out more, not just about the past but also about Rushbond's exciting plans for the future.
There are two sessions for this event - one in the morning starting at 10:30am and then a second in the afternoon starting at 1:30pm (i..e, the same event, repeated). Light refreshments will be available on arrival.
Each session will begin with a talk about the history of Wood Street delivered by Kevin Trickett MBE, President of Wakefield Civic Society, at Rushbond's sales office at 6-8 Bond Terrace, after which there will be an opportunity to visit one of the show houses and also to go inside the former police station to see how it has been converted into apartments.

The Wood Street Collection is a new residential development by Rushbond, a corporate member of Wakefield Civic Society. It will consist of new-build homes and the conversion of the Old Wood Street Police Station (which will be apartments and one new house). The development will also include the repurposing of the Old Court House and conversion of the former Register Office at Egremont House on Northgate.
