Grade II listed Masonic Hall that embodies a rich tapestry of history, community, and tradition

Originally constructed in the mid-19th century as a Baptist chapel with seating for 325, this tucked away building features distinctive black panels designed to resemble windows. Over time, two wings were added, enhancing its architectural character. In 1972, recognising its historical significance the building was designated as a Grade II listed structure.

Transitioning from a place of worship to a centre for Freemasonry in 1953, the hall became a hub for local Masonic activities and houses St. Winnold Lodge No. 3955 and Admiral Lord Nelson Lodge No. 9782, as well as St. Winnold Chapter No. 3955 and others.

These groups continue the Masonic tradition of fellowship, charity, and personal development within the community.

Both the dining area and the Masonic Hall will be open on the day with some of the regalia on show and Members invite you to learn more about the hall's history and the principles of Freemasonry. Whether you're interested in architecture, local history, or the fraternity itself, there's a wealth of knowledge to explore.
