Outdoors, enjoy accessible paths pass roaming fallow deer and ancient trees in the parkland, while the Winter and Rose Garden reveal the sights and scents of the season. Across the moat, the Georgian house offers a backdrop to the formal garden making a picturesque spot for picnickers. Dunham Massey welcomes dogs into the garden after midday
Indoors, ornate rooms and servants' quarters hold a collection that spans the history of the house, while the water-powered mill and other historic buildings add further context that beckons you into the past.
After exploring the garden and park, stop to refuel at one of Dunham Massey's food outlets, which offer a wide range of cakes, snacks and drinks. The National Trust shop has a huge choice of gifts and souvenirs, while the second-hand bookshop is the place to find a pre-loved treasure for the journey home.
Dogs are welcome on a short lead in the deer park. Keeping dogs on leads helps us to protect our wildlife, including ground-nesting birds, rabbits and a herd of fallow deer. In the gardens, dogs are welcome from 12 noon on a short lead, across the paths and lawn. Dogs are also welcome in a section of The Stables Restaurant and the Café terrace. Assistance Dogs are welcome in the historic buildings and in the gardens in the morning.
