Dunston Staiths Open Day and Dog Show

Discover a Grade II scheduled monument on the River Tyne at Dunston, Gateshead, this Heritage Open Days.
- 10am – 3pm Walk on the West End of Dunston Staiths and imagine the noise, smells and all the people who worked here in the past. See the magnificent views of the bridges and River Tyne.
- Tyne Derwent Way at Dunston Staiths space will be open from 10am to learn more about the Staiths and view Sirkka Liisa Konttinen’s film about the working Staiths just before it closed in the 1980s.
- At 2pm the Dunston Staiths dog show will start. Bring along your pooch and join in, registration starts at 12.45pm. Check Tyne Derwent Way Social media for more information and categories.
This old timber structure has uneven surfaces and we ask everyone to wear sensible shoes for their visit and be aware of trip hazards.

Whilst entry is suitable for all, with wheelchair accessible entry for bottom and top deck via Saltmarsh Gardens, please note that there are steps between the two decks. There are accessible toilets at the nearby Tyne Derwent Way space, ask staff for directions.
