Sandiacre Lock Cottage, Lock Lane, Sandiacre, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG10 5LA
Step back in time and explore one of the sole surviving lock cottages of our canal heritage! Discover the Historic Grade II Listed canal lock cottages and toll house, built in 1779, and maintained in an unspoiled condition. Immerse yourself in the echoes of a past age when the Erewash Canal was a bustling waterway for boats carrying heavy goods between Langley Mill and Trent Lock. Marvel at the artefacts, pictures, and storyboards that have been carefully researched and created by dedicated volunteers over many years.
Take a moment to indulge in our delightful homemade cakes, biscuits, and refreshing beverages in our designated picnic areas, where you can relax and soak in the beautiful surroundings of the Erewash Canal
You are welcome to participate in our walking and cycling routes along the canal to Mills Dockyard, which is also open for the day. Along the route, enjoy our interactive quiz trail, which showcases local history and the lock infrastructure that allows boats to navigate the canal, as well as the amazing heritage and environmental endowment we have in the Erewash Canal.
