A series of heritage talks and performances sharing local heritage and stories. Booking required. These talks have been developed in collaboration with RSPB Old Moor where accompanying exhibitions are being held. See RSPB & HC listings.

All talks are 'book in advance' and will take place in the Visitor Centre's Learning Space at Elsecar Heritage Centre.

RSPB Old Moor
The story of fifty years in the life of our farm in the Dearne Valley. Organic working farm in the seventies to natures sanctuary of today, Friday 11 September - 11am.

Friends of Hemingfield Colliery
Local lives - Everyday Histories of Elsecar and District by Chris Jones from the Friends of Hemingfield Colliery, Saturday 12 September - 2pm.

Wombwell Heritage Group
Angel of Mons - Exploring the life of local WW1 Nurse Annie Charlesworth who served with T.F.N.S by Sue Riley, Wednesday 16 September, 11am.

Wentworth Woodhouse
Heritage of Wentworth Woodhouse by Archivist, David Allott, Wednesday 16 September - 2pm.

Elsecar Heritage Centre
Mining and Industry: A Revolution by Gemma Firth-de Laci and the Elsecar Volunteers, Friday 18 September - 11am.

Mike Izzards
From Iron to Steel, The rise of Elsecar Ironworks and its subsequent decline with the growth and development of Sheffield Steel by Mike Izzards, Friday 18 September - 2pm.

Remember the Coal
Performance: Remember the Coal written by Alan Wood, presented by Alan and John Snook, Saturday 19 September - 11am at the Heritage Centre and 2pm at Hemingfield Colliery.

1100 - 1200: Mining and Industry: A Revolution by Gemma and the volunteer team from Elsecar Heritage Centre and 1400 - 1500: From Elsecar Iron to Sheffield Steel by Mike Izzards.
Saturday 19 September:
1100 - 12:00: Remember the Coal Part One Performance by Alan Wood and John Snook

Directions:
Elsecar Heritage Centre is located on Wath RD, Barnsley. It has public transport connections, buses from Barnsley and Rotherham with a train station and two car parks. The event is located in the Visitor Centre, in our Learning Space room upstairs. There is a lift or stairs to access the space with an accessible toilet. Staff in the Visitor Centre can help direct you to the room where the talks are held.
