Building Our Town: An exhibition of paintings and drawings by Eric Ricketts

Holy Trinity Church, Trinity Street, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 8TJ

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Weymouth has some fantastic buildings and Weymouth Museum is celebrating them and the person who did most to save them. Discover Eric Ricketts' paintings and drawings of old Weymouth at Holy Trinity Church, Weymouth.

Eric Ricketts was an architect who wrote the ‘Buildings of Old Weymouth’. Handwritten and illustrated with his charming drawings, they are Weymouth’s equivalent of the famous Wainwright guides to the Lake District.

Come and see Ricketts’ paintings and drawings of local buildings, plus his original notes for the four volumes of books he published about Weymouth, Melcombe Regis and the surrounding villages. Discover the history of Weymouth’s wonderful buildings and find out what we saved (largely thanks to Eric himself) and what we lost.

Then take a trail around the town to find the buildings of Weymouth that he drew.
