Everyday Histories: Ramsgate Craftspeople Royal Harbour & Town Trail

Start in the Ramsgate Historic Quarter and walk through the town centre to the town's Grade II* listed Royal Harbour - the only official Harbour of Refuge in the UK.
* See the Elizabeth Fry, who retired to Ramsgate, exhibition at Maker's House at 154 High Street (weekends only)
* Visit the sites and learn the stories of tailors, dressmakers, drapers and haberdashers from years gone through the town, ending up in the present at The Haberdashery & Fabric Shop at 13 King Street to admire their famous "Wall of Buttons" (not Thursday or Sunday)
* Learn about crafts and skill of Ramsgate's fishing fleet, the lives of the Smack Boy apprentices and the skills of the sailors working on the trading wherries along quayside in the Royal Harbour.
* Finishing at the Clock House Museum, learn about those who worked in the Royal Harbour: the harbour master, pilots and customs officers who made sure everything ran smoothly.
