Take a walk back through the everyday lives of Darwen people, Help us to celebrate our 10th Birthday, Photographic competition, Guided town centre walks, Hunt the mini figure, Quizzes, colouring and more.

A display of stories and photographs depicting the lives of ordinary working people of the town in the past.
A photographic competition with 2 age categories, Under 16 and Over 16. Open to all. The theme is entitled 'Everyday Life in Darwen 2026' - copy of details available from [email protected]
2 guided town centre walks featuring some of our beautiful buildings and interesting facts about them, will take place on each Saturday 12th and Saturday 19th September. (Times to be confirmed)
Hunt the mini figure - the figures will be found within our displays. A clue sheet will be given to all entrants.
There will be quizzes, word searches etc. and colouring opportunities for our younger visitors.

Directions:
Situated in Darwen town centre, opposite the bus station and market hall. 200 yards from A666 3 miles from M65 - Junction 4 - Blackburn with Darwen 5 minutes from the railway station - Leaving the station, turn right onto Railway Road. walk on the left hand side of the road, past Wetherspoons; we are housed in a large stone built Victorian House on the left on land above the street level steps to the front entrance. Wheelchair access is available at the rear of the building which is up an incline. Council owned disabled parking is across from the front of the building Car parking is currently free in the town centre with time limits as displayed.

Accessibility details

We do not have dedicated parking facilities. All parking in the town centre currently is FREE. There is a car park opposite on the market rooftop - (entrance from Knott Street) with a 3 hour limit A small amount of disabled and other parking directly opposite the centre is also free of charge. On street parking in the vicinity of the town centre is free, time restrictions apply which are well signposted (Some streets are resident only parking, this is clearly signposted)
