Exhibition of heritage homes of Northumberland and Cumbria
The Old Booking Hall, Haltwhistle Station, Haltwhistle, Northumberland, NE49 9HN
This exhibition was created after more than a years research by local group Zigzag Days. The group visited houses in Northumberland and Cumbria, some occupied, others in ruins, learning about the life and times of the original occupants before learning new skills to build the models.
Every model tells a story of local history. Barracks for Roman soldiers guarding the edge of the empire, castles to repel Scottish armies, bastles providing security during Reiver raids and homes built for people working during more recent centuries for people working on the land and in the coal, timber, water and rail industry.
Members of the Zigzag Days will be available to provide an insight into this fascinating exhibition.
