St Mary's Church, Church Road, Lymm, Cheshire, WA130AL
This church began its life in the eighth century and was mentioned in the Domesday book. The Bridgewater canal brought increased industry to the village: Fustian cutting, gold beating etc. and the Victorians rebuilt the church in the 1850's.
On the day we will be linking to the village's Heritage Centre to further explore its industrial past. In the church there will be films to watch, interactive quizzes, a comprehensive booklet to read about the history of the church and its magnificent stain glass windows.
We have the heaviest eight bells in Cheshire, come and have a go at ringing the bell's yourself! There will be a graveyard tour : 'Meet the the waifs the wealthy and the willing'.
Tea coffee and light refreshments will be served on the day. Entrance is free. There is disabled access.
