English Heritage are celebrating the 2025 September Heritage Open Days by offering exclusive free guided tours of Muchelney Abbey.
Muchelney Abbey was once a wealthy and important monastery. Visit, and you will see the two-storey abbots’ lodgings: a complete early Tudor mansion in miniature. You will be exploring a magnificent chamber with an ornate fireplace, a famous carved settle seat and stained glass, two rooms with wall paintings imitating cloth hangings, a pair of kitchens with fine timber roofs and parts of the richly decorated cloister walk.
The guided tours are on Monday 15 September and Friday 19 September at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before your tour is due to start. Parking and toilets are available on site. Dogs welcome on leads.
