An Exhibition by the Parish Centre Art Group at Saddleworth Church. A creative collection of new and past artworks inspired by the theme. Exploring stories of working life, crafts, traditions, routines, and rituals.

This year’s exhibition by the Parish Centre Art Group offers a relaxed and varied collection of artworks inspired by Heritage Open Days theme: Exploring daily working life through the ages.

The group is made up of local people with a mix of abilities and styles, and the exhibition reflects that warm, community feel.

Alongside paintings and mixed media pieces, there will be simple storyboards and creative snippets about real Saddleworth people and the jobs they did, from familiar trades to the quieter tasks that kept daily life going. Among them are figures whose skill, enterprise and achievement reached far beyond the valley, with some becoming known regionally, nationally and even globally for their excellence in fields ranging from industry and public service to craft, culture and innovation.

For those interested in exploring local history, through creativity, curiosity and everyday stories.

Look out too, for other events in and around the churchyards, including storytelling, family histories, CWGC connections and other local heritage activities.
