Hardwick Hall, gardens and Hardwick Old Hall will have free access for Heritage Open Days on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September.
Both Halls are open 11am - 3:30pm, with a last entry of 2:45pm.
Activities available on Saturday 13th September:
We will be offering introductory talks at the Main Hall on the West Court Logia offering an interesting overview of Bess of Hardwick and her ambitious rise to become not only a Countess but also, the second richest woman in Elizabethan England.
Our Discover with Us volunteer team will be leading – heritage craft activities in the East Stables between 10am-3pm.
The Specialist craft team demonstrations will also be running in the Stableyard 11am-3pm. Find out more from teams and local suppliers, who help care for the National Trust collections and historic properties.
Architecture Tours through the stableyard, Old Hall and formal gardens will be available to sign up to on a first come first serve basis at 11am and 1pm from Visitor Reception.
Lastly Old Hall tours will be available to sign up to on a first come first serve basis at the Visitor Reception at 12pm and 2pm.
Stainsby Mill will be open Friday 12th - Sunday 14th September from 11-3pm.

Please note the ground floor of Hardwick Hall is wheelchair accessible, there is also a virtual tour of the rest of the Hall located on the ground floor. Parking 100 yards from facilities, baby-change, accessible toilets. Accessible routes in gardens and Hall (ground floor). Wheelchair/ trampers available to hire. Buggy service available. The Old Hall is a ruin and therefore will have uneven grass and cobblestone pathways and uneven stairs with no handrails.
