Fircroft College Garden Open Day
Fircroft College of Adult Education, 1018 Bristol Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham, West Midlands, B29 6LH
Fircroft College is an adult education residential college, and also a charity, based on the Bristol Road in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Situated in a building that was once the family home of George Cadbury Jnr. the college is enhanced by 6 acres of grounds.
The grounds offer a range of features including ornamental garden, kitchen garden, orchard, pond, woodland, apiary and mother garden. For Heritage Day 2026 we will be opening our grounds to the public and offering nature and sustainability based activities, our Fircroft Plantry stall, cake and smoothie stall, information about the history of the site and the college, and details of our current education and community offers. Self guided tours and activities such as foraging also available, and input from the current cohort of Mother Garden Bootcamp students.
There is very limited visitor parking on site, so this will be prioritised for accessible parking. The top part of the garden is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible (via reception) and the rest of the garden is a mix of grass, gravel and woodland paths which do have some uneven surfaces. We are easy to get to by train, car, bus and bicycle, and have bicycle racks on site. Additional pedestrian access via garden side gate on Kingfisher Way, B30 1TG.
All ages welcome, under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs welcome but must be on lead at all times.
This event is part of Bournville Heritage Open Day 2026 where over a dozen local historic sites will open their doors for free, with tours, activities, exhibitions and much more!
