Flass Vale is a wooded valley close to the centre of Durham City.

Part of the Vale is a Local Nature Reserve managed by a Friends group but it also hides an orchard, planted over 150 years ago, but then abandoned and overgrown. However, a few of the original apple and pear trees remained. Restoring the orchard is now a work in progress and will be for some time, but the trees we planted from cuttings taken from the original trees are now starting to bear fruit.
-Meet at 13:00 at the entrance to the Kings Lodge Hotel.
-Walk through Flass Vale with guides - look out for a bronze age monument, Spice Pudding Hill and an old Curling Pond
-Arrive at the North End Allotments where refreshments and produce will be available.
-Walk back to the Kings Lodge Hotel finishing between 14:30 and 16:00.
