Gibside is a Grade I-listed Park and Garden that offers miles of walking trails through secluded woodland and views across the Derwent Valley. Nature-rich, Gibside is home to roe deer and red kites, it has amphibian-filled ponds and a fruitful walled garden. Explore key features of the original Georgian landscape garden including Gibside Chapel, the Column to Liberty and the ruined Orangery. On Heritage Open Days, the Banqueting House owned by Landmark Trust also opens its doors to explore (more information on 'The Banqueting House at Gibside' page).
On the Explorer trail, families can challenge themselves on the trim trail, spot some wooden animal sculptures, zoom along the zip line at the adventure play area, or build dens.
The Market Place café offers a range of cakes, bakes and a place to relax, with a second-hand bookshop next door.
We welcome all dogs to Gibside and know that it's a great place for them to enjoy. We do ask that they are kept on leads and that you clean up after them. An off-lead area for dogs is available at the Stables.

Accessibility details
Gibside is a 600 acre site full of wide hard-standing paths. Many paths are accessible by wheelchair, however some areas are steeper than others with different terrains underfoot. Visitor reception will be able to assist with which paths are not suitable. We have mobility trampers available to book onsite if available, as well as an access bus which can transport visitors to the main areas of the Market Place and the Stables. For access to the Chapel, we have a stair climber if required. Full detailed access statement is available on the Gibside National Trust website.
Additional information
We anticipate that our car park will be very busy during Heritage Open Days and we may have to run a 'one in, one out' system at peak times. We encourage visitors to arrive onsite after 2pm and/or join us on Friday 12 September to best avoid any waits. Dogs are welcome at Gibside but should be kept on a lead at all times, except in our designated off-lead area at the Stables. Six 11kW electric vehicle charging points are available in overflow car park. Chargers are only available to visitors during property opening hours. Cycle parking is located in the Market Place.
