Gourd and pottery art - Creative Family Workshop

The Almere MK, 353 Avebury Boulevard, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK9 2FF

  • 13 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Find out how gourds and clay water pots were used in African culture for utility and decoration, then have a go at painting and designing some of these artefacts yourself.

An opportunity to learn about symbols and patterns that were used by African communities in the past, which are now in danger of extinction due to lack of usage.

This is an inter-generational multicultural activity. The heritage products created in these workshops will appear in the cultural production Grandma’s Necklace, an interactive storytelling production that takes place later on in MK Heritage Open Days on the 20th of September.
